Trees are living systems
&
We understand them.

Tsuga Treeworks is the bridge between time tested practices, and emerging modern techniques. Most will find that we are not salespeople, but arborists in their purest form.

For us, understanding only the surface of how and why trees endure is not enough. We appreciation depth and the things that go unnoticed, because here at Tsuga, we see it all. Radix Et Ramus.

Tsuga Treeworks serves Kootenai County which includes: Coeur d' Alene, Fernan Village, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Harrison, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, and surrounding areas.

Many reach for our standards. Few understand the depth.
The rest is Tsuga.

tree lightning protection & Testing

When trees intercept a stepped leader, a lightning strike occurs. Usually these strikes severely damage the vascular system, supporting roots and trunk wood. They can also side-flash onto and through nearby structures.

If you have an important tree, or one within a few feet of a home, it may be worth having a system installed to redirect the energy.

-Difference

Simply put, what we won’t do defines us as much as what we will do. This is because our passion begins in efforts that are either unfamiliar to most, or attempted and looked away from.

-Escapement

Our heart is in the details, and those small forces are what makes us tick. It’s the choices such as utilizing the German Baumpflege ZTV, Australian MIS and British BS 3998 standards in the areas the U.S.’s does not address in detail.

-Pioneering Spirit

Many of our techniques are gaining acceptance nationally, becoming imitated and built upon, in turn allowing our industry to advance. Our clients are the wind in our sails, pushing us through new and uncharted waters.

-Continuity

Tsuga Treeworks views the ANSI A300/BMP industry standards not as the goal, but as the minimum to be achieved. A distinctive hallmark is our requirement to have an ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Board Certified Master Arborist spearheading each project.

-Passion

Passion…... Purpose.......Monomania..... At some point the lines blur. We have a deep affinity for trees and becoming leading experts in the various domains, however we also strive to have alot of fun and enjoy the process and completion.

-Gratification

Tsuga Treeworks is a niche firm, and as a result our work is approached with deliberate care and seeking our own satisfaction first. Accurate and consistent results allow for our own peace beyond the project.

-Power Reserve

As the season winds up, our cycle time for replies will increase. Overtime we aim to accelerate our responses and visits, but not at the expense of our work in the field. Tsuga is worth any wait.

-Conviction

We only perform the services and methods we know are the best, and at times this may challenge potential client visions and previous research. Our goal is to accommodate our clients desires to the best of our principles.

-Investment

Because our standards exceed the industry norm, the costs associated with our services reflect our attention to detail, knowledge and capabilities.

The more he understands.
the more questions he has.

Cody Willard is the owner of Tsuga Treeworks, LLC and an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist who has spent the last 15 years enjoying the unique trees of Oklahoma. During that time and for several years, he operated a well-known tree care company in Tulsa which held several contracts such as the Gathering Place, Tulsa Zoo, Philbrook Museum, Woodward Park, City Of Tulsa Parks, National Park Service, as well as maintaining various historic and tribal trees.

Coincidentally Cody, his wife and family have their roots in Kootenai,

so it only made sense to return back for good in 2025.

Since the age of 17, Cody has punched in over 30,000 hours in the field, has spoken at conferences nationally, and immersed himself in countless classes, books and scientific journals. His CEU requirements continue to grow, keeping abreast with his passion for arboriculture. The more he understands, the more questions he seems to have.

During this journey he’s been pulled by the passion of what he does, His mind is always analyzing, testing, investigating, and appreciating the growing world around him.

(You might say “ing” describes him best).

"Working with trees is all he has ever known.

And unless our creator has other plans.

It’s all he ever intends to do".
